We have three different puppy kennels where the puppies are kept depending on their size and age. These kennels are both heated and air conditioned. We keep bleach pans in front of each puppy kennel, where shoes must be cleaned before entering in order to prevent bringing any bacteria or viruses into the kennel. Until the puppies are seven weeks old, only those who work with the kennel are able to go into the puppies' environment. The puppies sleep on cedar shavings, and they potty on pine shavings. The wood shavings are changed daily. They are always kept dry and at a constant temperature.
We give the puppies their first shot at six weeks of age. It takes approximately seven to ten days for this shot to take its full effect, which is why the puppies stay in a controlled environment until they are seven weeks old.We also de-worm the puppies, beginning at twenty days of age. We do this again every 7-10 days, and then before the puppies leave our kennels, they are put onFrontline, which is a flea and tick preventative. We offer health guarantees with all of our puppies. They will all be AKC registrable.
After the puppies reach seven weeks of age, we do bring them outside so that they can play on grass and other surfaces and so that they are socialized with. Prior to that, we work with them inside their environemnt. We bring them around the horses and other farm animals in order to get them used to a variety as to socialize them better. We also familiarize them with various noises, which helps to prevent gun shyness later on.
